SHaME: Sexual Harms and Medical Encounters

Updated: Apr 25

For five and a half years, I have been privileged to work with the SHaME team at Birkbeck. It has been the most intellectually rewarding time of my life.

As a small indication of all that was achieved, please enjoy the following playlist:

Th playlist has nearly 50 (!) videos, ranging from 'Spotlights On' (interviews with influential people in the field) to seminars, conferences, films (including one commissioned specifically by the SHaME project on 'Stories of Survival'), and much much more. Embarrassingly, it includes a video of the event celebrating my (very early, I hasten to say!) retirement. Enjoy: cry and laugh, and, as with all endeavours, learn, contribute to, and share.

The SHaME Project - Sexual Harms and Medical Encounters - was a Wellcome Trust-funded interdisciplinary research group exploring the medical and psychiatric aspects of sexual violence from a global perspective. SHaME was active from 2018-2024 and was based in the School of Historical Studies at Birkbeck, University of London. This playlist is comprised of video content produced while the project was active.
